Renewable fuels
from recycled oils and fats

Switzerland's first production plant for HVO and SAF – high-quality renewable fuels from recycled oils and fats.

Helvoil SA is building Switzerland's first production plant for HVO and SAF made from recycled oils and fats. The facility is located in Monthey (VS), on the CIMO industrial site, and will produce high-quality renewable fuels for road, marine and air transport.

The plant will manufacture HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a renewable diesel produced through the hydrogenation of waste oils and fats, as well as SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), the sustainable alternative for aviation. Thanks to its flexible configuration, the plant can adjust the production mix between HVO and SAF according to market demand.

HVO can be used either pure or blended in any modern diesel engine without technical modifications, at any time of the year. It enables CO₂ emission reductions of up to 90% compared to fossil diesel.

SAF can be blended with conventional kerosene and is already used in commercial aviation, contributing significantly to reducing the sector's carbon footprint.

As the first Swiss producer of renewable, environmentally friendly fuels from recycled feedstocks, Helvoil is making a concrete contribution to strengthening Switzerland's energy independence in both road and air transport.
